BFLOW® Academy has trained California wholesale, 3PL, and home medical device teams for years. Our two most popular programs prepare you for the certifications the California State Board of Pharmacy requires before a facility can operate: the Designated Representative for wholesalers and third-party logistics providers, and the Exemptee for Home Medical Device Retailers (HMDR).

Designated Representative Training

Every licensed California wholesaler and 3PL that handles dangerous drugs or devices must name a Designated Representative responsible for compliance. Our California Designated Representative Training Course covers federal and state wholesale law, DSCSA and supply-chain security, storage and temperature control, recordkeeping, returns and recalls, suspicious order reporting, and inspections. It's about 12 hours, self-paced, and ends with a final exam and a dated certificate of completion for your license application — $395.95, one-time.

Exemptee Certification for HMDR facilities

Home Medical Device Retail facilities must designate a certified Exemptee. The California Exemptee Certification Course teaches HMDR law, facility and storage standards, recordkeeping, prescription handling for devices, patient instructions, recalls, and how Board inspections work. Plan on 8–10 hours of self-paced study, then pass the final exam and download your certificate — $79.95, one-time.

Training for the whole team

Beyond certifications, BFLOW® Academy offers medical billing and coding courses, NEMT training, healthcare professional development, and BFLOW® software training for DME and HME teams. Facilities can buy seats for multiple employees and assign courses from one account, track progress and scores, and download certificates for their compliance records.

How online certification works

1. Choose your course and check out securely — individuals and employers can both enroll, and employers can assign the seat to a team member.
2. Sign in and work through each module in order. Your progress saves automatically, so you can study on a computer, tablet, or phone and pick up where you left off.
3. After finishing every module, take the final exam. You need a passing score to complete the course, and retakes are available if you need another try.
4. Download your dated certificate of completion right away. It stays in your account, so you or your employer can download it again at any time.
5. Submit your certificate with your application to the California State Board of Pharmacy, along with any other items the Board requires.
